Cambodia doesn’t have too many health and safety requirements from tattoo studios, and as such is not necessarily as safe as some other countries when considering blood-borne disease and risk of infection in your new tattoo. At Babybong tattoo we follow guidelines put in place by the Australian government to maintain a clean and safe workplace and reduce the risk of cross contamination and infection (current valid certificate of qualification & ‘Maintain infection prevention for skin penetration treatments’ from TAFE Queensland). All of our materials are single use disposables and our studio is clean and safe at all times. If you are unsure about the risk to your health we invite you to come and have a look around our studio and ask our artists about their hygiene practices, please do so completely obliteration free.

Short answer, yes. Getting tattooed hurts. It can be different for everybody and different parts of the body hurt more than others. We offer numbing solutions which can be helpful sometimes, this may or may not be suitable for different tattoos depending on time frame, style, position on the body. It is also easy to buy effective pain-killers over the counter at Cambodian pharmacies. We don’t necessarily endorse this but it can be an option if you don’t feel comfortable with weathering pain.

At Babybong tattoo we always strive to offer the best price possible for our clients whilst considering the quality we want to achieve and the time that your tattoo will require. It is ok to discuss price with your artist and even to give a budget to work within but you also need to understand that this may affect the way we approach the tattoo. If you want your tattoo for a lower price than what is quoted initially we may need to reduce detail or size or discuss different placement. This should all be an open conversation with understanding and lack of judgement from both parties, and no need to feel uncomfortable about it at all.

Get a good nights rest the night before your tattoo so that you feel fresh and strong and you can feel more comfortable and relaxed on the day. Eat a meal before your tattoo, breakfast is essential if you are getting tattooed during the day. Eating an adequate meal before your session and eating during long sessions will keep your blood sugar at an optimal level and help with fatigue, relaxation and pain management. Bring along snacks and drinks like candy and soft drinks, if you don’t get around to that don’t stress we have drinks available and shops nearby with snacks. Keep your body hydrated before during and after your tattoo sessions, drink plenty of water and moisturise the area that’s getting tattooed the night before and morning of the session.Always shower before your appointments and wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing. Be prepared for your clothes to get a bit messy depending on where the tattoo is in relation to your clothing. Tattoo ink doesn’t always wash out so we don’t recommend wearing your favourite shirt.

No. Please let us know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before you book in so we can explain why it is unsafe to get tattooed during this time. We will do our best to reschedule your appointment to a more suitable time.

Technically there is no legal age for tattoos in Cambodia, however at Babybong we have an age requirement of 18 or older. We will tattoo customers who are 16-18 with parental consent. Both the underage client and parent must be physically present at the studio and must have current photo ID. Written consent will not be accepted.
